SHOPRAT ELECTRIC WHEELIE CAR—HISTORY
The Shop Rat Foundation has developed the Wheelie Car build to teach students STEM skills while using their hands and their mind to build this innovative project. The car features zero turn steering, electric motors, and dynamic braking. The Wheelie Car Kits come in different difficulty levels to consider Middle School, High School and College programs.
The prototype was developed by Chris Salow and his team at his Manufacturing company from a sketch on a napkin. In only about three week's time, the prototype was complete. After only a few test runs, it was obvious: this project had to be used in the afterschool Shop Rat Education Program as a large build project. At the end of that year's program, four Shop Rat Education Programs not only built their own Wheelie Cars, but they also learned to drive them and competed at the end of the year in the First Annual Shop Rat Electric Wheelie Car Completion.
Now, the Shop Rat Foundation would like to share this patent pending project package with educators across the US so that kids across the county can experience the power of this project. Peak Manufacturing Inc. donated its time to create the prototype and blueprints for the package. The Instructors Manual was wrote by the first instructor that taught the Wheelie Car Program, which all was documented, photographed and now ready to share with educators! All profits from Wheelie Car sales go back to the Shop Rat Foundation to help fulfill its mission.
YOUR WHEELIE CAR KIT OPTIONS
All Wheelie Car Kits come with the Blueprints and an Assembly Manual. You then have the option, depending on the age and abilities of the students, to purchase a fully machined kit with all required components, a pre-cut material kit that you must machine all parts with all required components, or just the Blueprints and Manual so you can purchase your own materials and machine your parts. We also have a great option to purchase the Bill of Materials/Purchased Part List for those who choose to purchase their parts on their own.
Assembly Manual - Included in all three kits
The over 200 page Assembly Manual includes complete step by step, photo guided instructions that cover everything you need to assembly a wheelie car! The manual is sold as a disk so you can print your PDF sections as required for your build. The manual breaks instruction down into eight sections including Frame Assembly, Axle Assembly, Battery Rack Assembly, Drive Train Assembly, Seat Assembly, Electrical Components, Appendix's, and Trouble Shooting Guide.
Machining & Assembly Blueprint Set - Included in all three kits
With over 70 Prints, the Wheelie Car Machining and Assembly Blueprint Set offer you a complete PDF package so you can easily machine the necessary parts and assembly the car with ease.
Bill of Materials/Purchased Parts List - $125
For those who would like to purchase their own materials and components this option is for you! The Bill of Materials/Purchased Part List will provide you will all the items that you will need to purchase. This includes a detailed metal stock list that lists all the material, shape, size and feet of your metal components. The Purchased Parts List also includes all the other components quantity requirements, vendors, part number etc. By using the Bill of Materials/Purchased Parts List information, you can simply gather your own components from any scrap you may have around, or work towards getting components donated to your program.
Remote Kill Switch Safety Upgrade
Once your Wheelie Car is built and your ready to take it for a spin, there's not a safer way to operate the car than to have it equipment with a remote kill switch. With one touch of a button you can immediately stop a car if a driver drives the car in any way that is considered unsafe to themselves or pedestrians around them. We recommend that ALL cars upgrade to include this safety feature.

HOW CAN I ORDER MY WHEELIE CAR KIT
You may download the Wheelie Car Kit Order Form and mail in your completed form and check or money order to The Shop Rat Foundation at 11855 Bunkerhill Road Pleasant Lake, MI 49272. We also accept Purchase Orders from School Districts, but invoice must be paid within 30 days of shipping. Once your order is received the Shop Rat Foundation will send your kit as soon as possible. For Kits 2 & 3, Please allow 4-6 weeks before delivery.
WHO ELSE IS BUILDING WHEELIE CARS
Shop Rat Wheelie Cars are being built it five different states by high schools, middle school, and colleges programs. If you would like to start a wheelie car competition with other schools in your area, please contact us and we would be more than happy to see if we can make that happen!
WHEELIE CAR FUNDRAISERS
The Shop Rat Foundation has successfully raised fundraising dollars by providing wheelie car rides at public events. We encourage programs that build the car to use their wheelie car at local fairs, sporting events or other public events as a tool to raise money. Riders make a minimum donation to your program or school to take a spin on the car. Just remember, make sure that you have everyone sign a waiver and that it is approved by the local event. RECYCLING YOUR WHEELIE CAR WITHIN YOUR COMMUNITY
After your initial investment to purchase your first wheelie car kit, you can re-use this project in future programs, or pass the project down to your local middle school or summer camp programs for no cost. You simply unbolt components and drill out the rivets holding the frame together and start a new build with a fresh kit. WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to make the most out of this educational project by recycling your initial kit to involve as many new student groups as possible. This provides an opportunity link your community groups together to allow students to see a clear hands-on pipeline within your educational community.
