JACKSON’S FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH TO HOLD SHOP RAT CLASSES AT YOUTH CENTER

The Shop Rat Foundation is proud to partner with the First Presbyterian Church to hold Shop Rat Classes at their youth center starting in February of 2010.

With a great location, located right by Jackson High School, the First Presbyterian Youth Center will open their doors to 10-12 middle and high school students to build projects such as Mousetrap Catapults, Super Capacitor Dragsters, Robots, and Mousetrap vehicles and other unique and innovative projects.

Don O Connor (Shop Rat Lead Instructor) will train the volunteers of the youth center so they can successfully operate their own successful Shop Rat Program. They will specifically recruit from Jackson High School with hopes of filling a maximum of 12 seats.

“Its great to see other entities realize the benefits of this program and taking action to start their own hands-on program at their facility. This is what we hoped the future would be…its impossible for us to physically run programs across the US, but, it’s not impossible to give organizations the training and resources to help them start their own program in their area.” Says Amanda Proctor, Director of the Shop Rat Foundation

This is the fourth company in Jackson to run Shop Rat Education Programs out of their facilities. Other program hosts include Peak Manufacturing, Classic Metal Finishing’s and Advance Turning.

~~~ The Shop Rat Foundation is a 501 c 3 non profit education foundation with a mission to advance the skilled trades industry by opening the minds of our youth through building unique and innovative projects from concept to completion
