Shop Rat In the Community
posted on April 25th, 2008
The Shop Rat Foundation has made several stops in the local community by supporting and participating in the local manufacturers and the local Career Center in open houses.
The Shop Rat Foundation is committed to supporting the local community to inspire the next generation to take interest in hands on careers and hobbies. In March, Shop Rat was invited to be a part of the Jackson Area Career Centers Open House to create interest and increase enrollment for the manufacturing cluster at the Career Center. Shop Rat had picture boards set up, gave away free merchandise, and gave rides in the mini hovercraft to anyone that was interested in going for a ride. Overall Shop Rat put all efforts to encourage the students to enroll and take interest in hands on programs.

The Shop Rat Foundation also visited Advance Turning and Classic Turning and participated in their Open House. Their Open Houses were designed to bring in the public and students to expose them to what actually happens within a manufacturing facility. The Shop Rat Foundation was there with the mini hovercraft at Advance Turning and we brought the Shop Rat OCC bike to Classic Turning.
We hope that the attendees of all Open Houses enjoyed our presence. We would also like to thank the Jackson Area Career Center, Advance Turning and Classic Turning for allowing us to be a part of their activities and we hope that we were able to encourage the next generation to take part in hands on careers and/or hobbies.
