Congratulations to Our Shop Rat Friends in Howell

posted on April 22nd, 2008

Laszlo Szalay, a teacher of the Howell High School's Machine Tool Program, and a good friend of the Shop Rat Organization donated a 1973 Honda CB 750 motor to create an award winning chopper with his team of students.

The "Reaper" is the custom chopper that led to recognition in the national competition called the Donnie Smith Chopper Class Challenge that was held in late March.

The class took home first place in innovation, structural design and rebuild and fourth place in the People's Choice Award for high school and the People's Choice for All Metric Bikes in the open custom class!

Laszlo is an individual that we are proud to call a Shoprat. He is as passionate as we are and is also using 'cool' projects such as this project to attract students to hands on projects. He also is a firm believer of including the math, science and physics into the curriculum and is able to prove how each and every lesson can incorporate these valuable skill sets.

You Rock Laszlo! And Congrats to your team!
